The Meaning of Qur'ān
بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
Linguistically, from language aspect the word قرءان means that which is recited or collection or collecting.
So one meaning is that it’s recited and the other meaning is a collection as it collects the informations and the rullings. It can also mean collected as it’s collected in the Maṣāḥif (the copies of Qurʾān which we have) or in the chest of people.
Islamically, the Qurʾān is the speech of Allaah سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى, brought down on His Messenger, final and last Prophet, Muḥammad ﷺ – starting with surah Al-Fātiḥah and ending with surah An-Naas.
Verily, it is We Who have sent down the Qur’ân to you (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) by stages.[76:23]
Verily, We have sent it down as an Arabic Qur’ân in order that you may understand.[12:2]
Allaah سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى protected this noble and magnificent Qurʾān from changes, additions or omissions and alterations. He took it upon Himself to preserve it.
Verily, We, it is We Who have sent down the Dhikr (i.e. the Qur’ân) and surely, We will guard it (from corruption).[15:9]
Many centuries have passed and none from the enemies of Islaam was able to change in it anything or add to it or take from it or alter anything except that they failed miserably in their efforts and Allaah unravelled his affairs and exposed his attempt.
