Types and classification of knowledge



The levels of knowledge are 6 -

▪️Al- 'Ilm (knowledge) - To comprehend the reality of something as it truly is with certainty.
▪️Al Jahlul Baseet (Slight ignorance) - Lack of full comprehension.
▪️Al Jahlul Murakkab (Compounded/Aggravated ignorance) - Comprehending something contrary to it's reality.
▪️Al Wahm (Delusion) - To think that one truly comprehends something despite the presence of something which could cause him the realisation that he's incorrect.
▪️Ash Shakk (doubt) - To comprehend something yet being aware of something contrary which one thinks that has the possibility of being the truth.
▪️Dhann (Preponderant belief) - To comprehend something despite the presence of something contrary to it but which is less likely be true.

Knowledge is classified into two categories -

Durooree (inevitable) which is inevitably known without any need of investigation or proof. Such as the fact that fire is hot.
Nadharee (speculative) which needs investigation or proof such as the knowledge that it's obligatory to have niyyah for making ablution.
