Tawḥeed Ar Ruboobiyah (1/2)
بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
In the name of Allāh,the Extremely Merciful, the Bestower of Mercy.
First branch of Tawḥeed – Tawḥeed Ar Ruboobiyah
It is to single Allāh the Most High as the Only Creator that there is no creator except Him, to single Him as the One to wyhom belongs the Kingdom and as the One Who runs the affairs of everything.
The first aspect of this is to single Him as the Only true Creator capable of bringing things into existence from non existence.
“Surely, His is the Creation and Commandment…”[7:54]
This ʾĀyah implies restriction meaning that is solely for Him Alone.
Is there any creator other than Allâh who provides for you from the sky (rain) and the earth?….[35:3]
This ʾĀyah indicates that creation is exclusive to Allāh Alone.
As for statements which affirm other creators such as “So Blessed is Allâh, the Best of creators.“[23:14] and like the Ḥadīth mentioning about picture makers that they’ll be told to bring into life what they’ve created- these in reality is not a true creating capability.
Its not bringing something into existence from non existence rather it’s just changing something from one condition to another, it’s not comprehensive and is limited to a man’s ability. So, this does not in anyway nullify or oppose the earlier definition where Allāh is to be singled as the Sole Creator.
The second aspect is to single Allāh as the Only Owner of every creation, as the One to Whom belongs the Kingdom.
And to Allâh belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth, and Allâh has power over all things.[3:189]
Say “In Whose Hand is the sovereignty of everything (i.e. treasures of each and everything)?[23:88]
As for statements affirming possession for others such as –
And those who guard their chastity (i.e. private parts, from illegal sexual acts)Except from their wives or (the slaves) that their right hands possess, – for then, they are free from blame;[23:5-6]
or (from that) whereof you hold keys,…[24:61]
Here is a possession mentioned of certain things for others but it’s limited covering only few things from created things and is not comprehensive.
So man possess that which is under his control and cannot possess that which is in the hands of others.
And he does not possess anything under his possession completely in a sense that he cannot act regarding his possession except as permitted legally by Allāh. Such as if he wants to burn his wealth or torture his animal then its impermissible even though they’re under his possession.
Only Allāh posseses everything completely and comprehensively, in His Hands is the full and complete dominion.
