Revealation of the Qur'an
The Qurʾān was brought down on the Messenger ﷺ for the first time in the night of Al-Qadr, in Ramadan.
Verily, We have sent it (this Qur’ân) down in the night of Al-Qadr (Decree). [97:1]
The month of Ramadan in which was revealed the Qur’ân, a guidance for mankind and clear proofs for the guidance and the criterion (between right and wrong).[2:185]
We sent it (this Qur’ân) down on a blessed night. Verily, We are ever warning.Therein (that night) is decreed every matter of ordainments.[44:3-4]
The Prophet ﷺ when he received the Qur'ān was 40 years of age according to what's commonly stated by the people of knowledge as reported by Ibn Abbas, 'Ataa, Sa'eed ibn al-Musayyib and others.
This age of 40 is the age where full perfection of intellect and contemplation take place.
The one who brought down the Quran from Allaah to Prophet ﷺ was angel Jibreel, one of the close and honorable angels to Allah.
And truly, this (the Qur’ân) is a revelation from the Lord of the ‘Âlamîn (mankind, jinn and all that exists), Which the trustworthy Rûh [Jibrîl (Gabriel)] has brought down[26:192-195]
Jibrîl عليه السلام was qualified with great honorable qualities such as strength closeness to Allaah سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى, high ranking and respect amongst the angels, trustworthiness, beauty, purity all qualities fitting to be a Messenger of Allaah, trusted with the revelations to His Messengers.
Verily, this is the Word (this Qur’ân brought by) a most honourable messenger [Jibrîl (Gabrîl), from Allâh to Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم].Owner of power, (and high rank) with (Allâh), the Lord of the Throne,Obeyed (by the angels in the heavens), and trustworthy.[81:19-21]
He has been taught (this Qur’ân) by one mighty in power [Jibrîl (Gabriel)]One free from any defect in body and mind then he (Jibrîl - Gabriel in his real shape as created by Allah) rose and became stable. While he [Jibrîl (Gabriel)] was in the highest part of the horizon,[53:5-7]
Say (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم) Ruh-ul-Qudus [Jibrîl (Gabriel)] has brought it (the Qur’ân) down from your Lord with truth, that it may make firm and strengthen (the Faith of) those who believe, and as a guidance and glad tidings to those who have submitted (to Allâh as Muslims).[16:102]
Allāh made clear to us the qualities of Jibrîl عليه السلام which indicates the greatness of the Qurʾān and the care of Allaah of this Book for He does not send anyone who is great except for a great matter.
